Moving towards the holiday season with ease and sanity!

🎄 The Sparkle and Sanity Guide: Staying Centered and Joyful During the Holidays! 🎄

Ok, I know that it is just the end of October, but you know that the holidays are fast approaching! It was laid on my heart to put this out now, hoping that you will save it for when you're in the depths of all things sleigh bells, snowy sidewalks and stressful evenings. I know all too well that you can get quickly caught in the middle of all the things and really feel like you're going to loose your shit.

Hang in there Sis! I got you!

Ah, the holiday season! The twinkling lights, the festive tunes, and yes—the hustle and bustle that seems to sneak up on us every year. With a sprinkle of planning and a dash of sparkle, you can savor the season without getting swept away in the holiday frenzy! Here are my top tips for keeping sane, staying focused, and sprinkling self-care into even the busiest days.

1. ✨ Let Go of the “Perfect Holiday” Pressure

Let's start with a little reality check: there’s no such thing as a “perfect” holiday. Releasing that expectation opens space for real joy and meaningful moments. Try this:

  • Mindset Flip: When you catch yourself feeling like things "have to be perfect," take a deep breath and remind yourself it’s the memories that count, not the picture-perfect moment.
  • Find Gratitude: Keep a tiny journal or make a mental note of something that brings you joy each day—glittering snow, cozy blankets, a laugh with family.

2. 🎁 Prioritize Self-Care (And Add a Dash of Sparkle!)

The holiday season is magical, but if we don’t take care of ourselves, it can turn into a one-way ticket to Burnout City. Put yourself at the top of your holiday gift list with these ideas:

  • Set “Me Time” Blocks: Whether it’s a bubble bath, journaling with your favorite hot cocoa, or a quick walk to enjoy the fresh air, block off mini self-care moments throughout the week.
  • Holiday Glam Moments: Use self-care as an excuse to get festive! A face mask with a holiday playlist, sparkly nails, or even a fun holiday-themed workout can keep you in the spirit without the stress.

3. 🎄 Keep Communication Clear with Family

Holiday gatherings are a gift but can also be a lot. To keep the peace and your cool, try these tricks:

  • Set Boundaries Gently: If family time gets too intense, have a pre-set “getaway” plan. Maybe that’s a quick walk or a few deep breaths outside.
  • Give the Gift of Grace: Family dynamics can get tricky, but this season, let’s give grace as much as we can. Understanding and patience are so 2024!

4. 🛍️ Plan (And Stick to!) Your Budget

The sparkles, the gifts, the tempting holiday deals—it’s all a lot! Financial stress is one of the sneakiest stressors of the season. Here’s how to keep it in check:

  • Create a “Holiday Budget” Envelope: Outline what you’re willing to spend, then stick to it with a little extra for the unexpected.
  • DIY Magic: When in doubt, handmade gifts or heartfelt gestures go a long way. Maybe it’s baking your favorite cookies or crafting something meaningful!

5. ✨ Breathe, Move, and Laugh Often

This season, make room for joy—literally! Set aside time to breathe, move your body, and laugh. Science proves that a good laugh can be the best stress reliever, so have fun and let loose!

  • Mini Dance Parties: When you need a break, put on your favorite holiday song and let yourself dance like nobody’s watching.
  • A Little Fresh Air: Whether it’s a quick stroll or a pause to enjoy the crisp winter air, fresh air is nature’s reset button.

🎅 In Closing…

As you decorate, shop, wrap, and celebrate, remember to sprinkle a little extra magic on yourself. The holiday season is here to be enjoyed, so gift yourself the joy of a more relaxed, self-cared-for you! ✨

Wishing you all a sparkly, sane, and oh-so-special holiday season!

In your corner and rooting for you, your bestie~

September got me feelin' all kinds of ways

Hello, September! Welcoming Fall, Fun, and Feelings 🌻🍁 Can you believe it's already September?  We have a wild and crazy September here at the MacLean house!  For me, it’s not just the start of fall but also the month I turn 50! (Cue the confetti! 🎉) I’m so excited about all the fun things we have planned—pumpkin patches, cozy sweater weather, and warm apple cider. It's that magical time of year when the air gets crisper, and the leaves start to turn those beautiful shades of red and gold. 🍂 We took an adventure to Branson last weekend! That was so much fun! With my 50th upon me later this month, my kiddos surprised me by taking us all to one of our favorite locations! We have not been to Branson as a family for way too long!  We had so much fun!  Back home for now and this next week we will head to California. I’d be lying if I didn’t say this September also feels a little bittersweet. We’re still processing the loss of my father-in-law, and it’s a reminder that...

The ALMOST end to Summer!

Hey Bestie, Welcome Back!  Yes, antother hiatus taken. Totally unplanned and I vow to get better at showing up here for you!  So what gives this time? So much.  I typically sit down to write to you on the weekends. Well, there has been a lot happening and the weekends ended up being either a blur or a total veg time with literally scrolling aimlessly on socials or just in front the tv. It started with mom. She had a toenail that seemed to be maybe in grown. She tried to cut it out herself. It then got inflammed and then there was a small section that turned black. SO scary.  Well, she's also kind of stubborn. I tried to first get her to go to a podiatrist. She thought that maybe there was a piece still in there that she didn't quite get out. Well, she also has neuropathy and touching her feet is painful. So it went untreated. I then suggested that maybe we just have the people that do her nails try and pull it out. Finally that suggestion seemed a good one. The...

Self Love, Why should we even try?

Hey Babes, Welcome to another blog post! Hope everyone has been great these past few weeks. I took a break from last week, not purposeful, let's call it what was, I didn't take the time to sit down and write.  I'd like to say that won't happen again, but that would not be real.  Ok, let's move forward. Maybe I'm stalling a bit as well because as much as you may dislike this topic and squirm a little, I am as well. Why do we do this? Self love is important, but it's a really hard topic.  It's been said that you can't love others properly until you love yourself. Maybe we should sit in that quote for a minute. Thinking about the love we give to others. Our kiddos, spouses, friends. There's also a quote that says you can't pour from an empty cup. Well, my friends, that has to do will self love as well.  Let's dive in.  Self love isn't just a fleeting feeling. It's a deep-rooted acceptance and appreciation of who we are. It begins w...
