Hello 50~ Things I'm learning early! You're gonna want this!

When the Glow Goes Rogue and How I’m Getting It Back!

Fabulous at fifty? Heck yes! But let me tell you, my friends, the day I woke up officially half a century old, it was like my body decided to throw me the biggest surprise party of all time — and not the fun kind. Seriously~ It was like this invisible switch was flipped! It was the weirdest and craziest thing to experience! My energy took a nosedive, my skin decided it was auditioning to be a stand-in for the Sahara Desert, and all those tried-and-true products I’ve loved for years just decided to quit on me. Thanks a lot, collagen!

But here’s the thing: I’m not one to wallow in dry-skin despair. Nope, I’ve embraced this new chapter with a whole lot of curiosity, a dash of humor, and enough sparkle to make a disco ball jealous. And guess what? I’ve stumbled upon some absolute gems in the skincare and nutrition world that are starting to breathe new life into this face and body of mine. Let me give you the scoop!

Let’s Talk Skin: From Desert to Dewy

First up, hydration is the name of the game. I’ve discovered a couple of products that have given my skin the loving hug it so desperately needed. While it’s still early days, I’m seeing some promising results — and I promise to spill the tea on all of them once I’ve vetted them for the long haul. (I’m looking at you, hyaluronic acid miracle worker!)

What I can say for sure is that I’ve learned a thing or two about what our skin needs as we age:

  1. Gentle Cleansing: Your skin deserves a soft touch. Harsh cleansers strip away what little moisture you have left, so switch to a creamy or oil-based cleanser.

  2. Hydration, Hydration, Hydration: Layers are key! Start with a hydrating serum, follow with a rich moisturizer, and don’t skimp on SPF.

  3. Nighttime TLC: Retinol or bakuchiol paired with a nourishing night cream has become my bedtime bestie.

  4. Weekly Treats: A good hydrating mask and a gentle exfoliator can work wonders to keep your glow going strong.

Nutrition Hacks for Feeling Fabulous

Good skin starts from within, darling, so I’ve been leveling up my nutrition game too. Here are a few tips that have helped me boost my energy and get my sparkle back:

  • Hydrate Like It’s Your Job: Water is the ultimate anti-aging potion. Add a splash of lemon or cucumber for a refreshing twist.

  • Collagen Is Queen: Adding a scoop of collagen peptides to my morning coffee has been a game-changer.

  • Antioxidant Power: Think berries, spinach, and dark chocolate (you’re welcome). These little gems help fight off those pesky free radicals.

  • Healthy Fats: Avocado toast isn’t just for millennials. Omega-3s from fish, nuts, and seeds are essential for glowing skin and a happy heart.

The Fun Extras

Here’s the part where I remind you to treat yourself! Hit 50 with a sense of adventure and a spirit of playfulness. Try a new haircut, experiment with a bold lipstick, or rock that statement necklace you’ve been saving for a “special occasion” (spoiler alert: today is special!).

And remember, it’s not just about looking good; it’s about feeling amazing too. Dance in your living room, try yoga, or take up a new hobby. Age is just a number, and you’re only as old as you feel!

I’ll be keeping you updated on these fabulous finds and sharing my journey as I test out new products and tips for thriving in this golden decade. So, keep those highlighters handy, ladies — it’s time to sparkle like never before!

The ALMOST end to Summer!

Hey Bestie, Welcome Back!  Yes, antother hiatus taken. Totally unplanned and I vow to get better at showing up here for you!  So what gives this time? So much.  I typically sit down to write to you on the weekends. Well, there has been a lot happening and the weekends ended up being either a blur or a total veg time with literally scrolling aimlessly on socials or just in front the tv. It started with mom. She had a toenail that seemed to be maybe in grown. She tried to cut it out herself. It then got inflammed and then there was a small section that turned black. SO scary.  Well, she's also kind of stubborn. I tried to first get her to go to a podiatrist. She thought that maybe there was a piece still in there that she didn't quite get out. Well, she also has neuropathy and touching her feet is painful. So it went untreated. I then suggested that maybe we just have the people that do her nails try and pull it out. Finally that suggestion seemed a good one. The...

Welcome Back!

Hey Babes! I've been gone for a bit because I was trying to figure out how to freaking add comments to this thing!  I didn't want to keep creating content that you can't interact with, and I was kind of bummed the first few posts didn't have comments!  So, here we are. Back again!  Really what I wanted to say in this post is that you can do THE THING! Whatever it is you've got your heart set on, you can do and accomplish!  When I started this journey of wanting to have more of an online presence, I had never, in the history of ever, had any idea how to create a website. But I was determined. So I hopped in and just started clicking around and figured it out! I used to say that I was stuck in nineteen dickety two when it came to electronics. My limit? Myself. I had this limiting belief that electronics were hard and that I just couldn't do it. Sound familiar?  You can! You are not too old, too set in your ways, too, whatever you keep telling yourself! If I can do...

Community and Friendship

One of the topics I get so many questions on is, friendships in later life.  There's a lot of you that reach out and are not really sure what to do. Some of you have lost friends over time, or had mom friends that you chatted with at drop off and pick up, but maybe it didn't go anywhere. Some of you were just so focused on mom and wife life that the girlfriend life kind of went to the way side.  There's a lot that can happen to us along the way, as life takes on many different shapes. Growth, moving, some of us even just lose ourselves somewhere along the way, and it's a matter of stepping back and getting yourself back. I think I have been every one of these women along my journey.  I thought I'd share a few tips and tricks to help you find your tribe!  1. Start by Revisiting Your Passions Finding friends with shared interests is key. Whether you’re into yoga, knitting, painting, or 80s rock concerts, there’s a community out there! Re-engaging with hobbies is...
